There's More Opportunity than Ever

Hey there, Happy Friday!

In case you missed the memo, it's Creativity Month here at Copyblogger. We're dedicating the entire month of August to helping you enhance your creative voice and channel your creativity into remarkable business results.

Why is creativity so important?

Our world has more tools and resources than ever before. Artificial intelligence can now create content. Automation can run entire marketing campaigns.New technologies allow for brilliant systems that help you leverage your time to create out-sized success.

So isn't technology the trick to remarkable business results?

The answer is... sort of.

We plan to teach you how to better use marketing technology. But remember, these tools need something more.

In other words, the more automated your marketing becomes, the less human it can seem. And that's a huge mistake.

The true "secret sauce" of modern marketing is trust. Without creativity and a relatable personality, your content falls flat. And without being able to trust you as a fellow human being, people will find someone else to do business with.

That means creativity is more important than ever. It's a trait that separates you from the machines and everyone else. And while everyone else has access to new technology, there's only one version of you.

How can your creativity become the light that makes your content shine? Even better, how can your creativity be the signal that cuts through the noise of the competition?

Well, for starters, this week's newsletter is loaded with nuggets of gold. Enjoy. 😊

Top Content Marketing Resources

1. It's Creativity Month at Copyblogger

Copyblogger founder Brian Clark kicks off Creativity Month with more detail about why creativity is vital, now more than ever. Not to mention, this is leading up to Brian's FREE REPORT coming at the end of the month.

"We're not talking about any ol' content that just fills a web page. Instead, we need to create valuable messages that engage, inspire, and motivate our prospects to become who they want to be.In other words, a healthy dose of creativity that transcends marketing and becomes something more. And that's why this month, we're celebrating creativity on Copyblogger."

Be sure to follow along on the blog to receive the latest and greatest resources on creativity. Learning how to combine your personality with tactical content marketing is what will make you a killer.

2. The Persuasive Power of Analogy

I have a friend who's interested in building an online fitness business, specializing in water aerobics. She helps high performance athletes (like NFL players) to train in water because it's easier on their joints.

She put together a long and detailed article about why her program is different, and sent it to me for my opinion. I read it and politely responded by saying... "I don't get it."

That right there is the enemy of great content.

Your audience must understand exactly what you're communicating. And that's where analogies can be your best friend.

When it comes to creating effective understanding, analogies are hard to beat. Most of their persuasive power comes from the audience arriving at the intended understanding on their own.

Next time you find yourself struggling to clearly communicate your point, try using an analogy. It's a game changer.

3. Succeed as a Professional Writer by Practicing Disciplined Creativity

In this article, our insightful Editor-In Chief Stefanie Flaxman addresses a topic that we often secretly avoid. And that's our intentions.

That is to say, what do you really want to do?

It's fun to dream about what you want to create. But what happens when you sit down at the keyboard to write? Do you draw a blank? Do you convince yourself that your ideas don't matter? Do you lose focus?

It's okay. It happens to everyone. But there are real tactics you can use to get from idea to creation.

4. Is Seth Real?

A stunning and important example of how to build trust and creativity is a world of automation.

In this podcast episode, Seth Godin talks about the mind blowing capabilities of GPT 3, and how we need to adjust to a world in which everything can be replicated, copied, and spammed.

Trust will be the currency of the next century. Creativity will be the method which builds trust. Read the show notes here.

5. Creative Writing Advice from Stephen King

How cool is this video? The way Stephen King talks about his writing process makes it sound so easy. But in reality, it's simple -- which isn't always the same as easy. We create, and create, and keep going, and over time ... the really good stuff shows up.

Closing Thoughts

With every new development in robotics, AI, and automation, I find myself feeling anxious. How on earth will there be a place for my work when everything can be automated?

I give it some thought and then realize that the opportunity for creative work is bigger than it's ever been. If we can leverage code to systematize our processes, then we're left to focus on creative work that better connects with our audience. This is a good thing!

Humans are emotional creatures. The biological hardware that produces emotion is millions of years old, and the desire to connect with other people will never leave us. The technology has changed drastically, but we haven't.

So don't be anxious or afraid. Don't tell yourself that the time to build your dream business has passed. This is actually the best time in history to start a powerful small business.

There's more opportunity now than ever. That's because emerging technology will augment the creative person, not replace them.

You simply need the courage to take advantage of this chance you're given. Are you ready?

Talk to you next week.
