Hey there. Tim here.

My wife and I hiked "The Incline" this week. It's a ridiculous set of stairs on the side of a mountain. It was very hard. Look it up.

This week's issue is brought to you by The Convertkit Sponsorship Network. It's easily the best way to grow your audience and your email list.

1. The 8 Best Copywriting Courses To Add More Zeros To Your Income

There are plenty of copywriting courses available, but it can be tricky to figure out which one will give you the best results and scale your income the fastest.

Virtually all of them offer video courses on similar topics, and each one promises outstanding results, so how should you choose one?

There isn't a definitive "best course" for all copywriters as each person's needs differ depending on their skill level and goals. For example, the best course for someone looking to improve their Twitter copywriting skills differs greatly from an advanced professional copywriter looking to grow their roster of email marketing clients.

However, there is a difference between high-quality and mediocre courses.

So in this post, we'll give you a criteria you can use to evaluate the quality of any copywriting course.

We'll also introduce you to our favorite eight copywriting courses, which we categorized by use case so that you can quickly select the best one for your needs.

2. How To Book More Freelance Writing Jobs

This week, Ethan and I talk about our experience hiring writers, and how to get noticed if that's the kind of work you want to do for a living.

We talk about structuring portfolios, how to do outreach, what actually matters, and what's a waste of time. Plus we include examples from our work at Copyblogger, Sober Nation, Stodzy, Trends, and Hampton

4. This Is The REAL Opportunity To Make More $$$ From Email

video preview

In this video, I discuss the effectiveness of direct sales emails compared to newsletters for most people starting businesses.

I present two examples and analyze the analytics behind recent emails I personally sent. I emphasize the importance of a concise and focused sales email with a clear call-to-action (CTA) for better results.

While newsletters have higher scalability in the long run, for the majority of us, crafting one-off sales emails yields higher returns in relation to the time invested.

5. Content Marketing Mastery (Academy Members Only)

Every Copyblogger Academy member gets instant access to 7 courses and a content checklist. One of the most important courses in The Academy is Content Marketing Mastery.

Final Thought

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Ethan has decided to part ways from the podcast. I am grateful to Ethan and all the hard work he has put into the pod. I couldn't have gotten this far without him.

Ethan has decided that his priority is with Hampton, and I fully support him in the good work he wants to do. It's a huge opportunity and I'm proud of him.

So now what?

Am I going to shut down the podcast?

No. In fact, I am doubling down. It is my belief that starting a podcast is one of the smartest things you can do for your brand and your business. In this week's final thought, I will tell you why.

Most Podcasters Quit

Want to know the secret to success with podcasts?

Keep going.

Yep, it really is that simple.

90% of podcasts quit after 3 episodes.

  • Of the 200,000 left, 90% will quit after 20 episodes. That's another 180,000 gone.
  • To be in the top 1% of podcasts in the world you only need to publish 21 episodes of your podcast.
  • Your competition is not the 2 million podcasts. It's the 20,000 podcasters who didn't quit.

We're Still Early (And Demand Is Going Up)

Think you're too late to start a podcast?

Think again.

My friend Darren posted this great statistic that shows the trajectory rate of podcasts.

You are early. We are all early.

All you have to do to succeed in the podcast game is continue publishing. It's that simple.

Interview Style Podcasts Are A Cheat Code

Ethan and I wanted to try a new format for our podcasts and that's why we never had guests on the show. However, I'm under no illusions that our strategy was the best strategy. In fact, I would argue that interview style podcasts continue to be the best option if your goal is to grow.

When you invite people on a podcast, they are almost always willing to talk with you. My podcasts brought me relationships with Seth Godin, Ramit Sethi, Jonny Nastor, and other heroes of mine.

It's a cheat code to networking and relationship building.

A Rebirth For The Copyblogger Pod

I am transitioning the podcast back to a more standard interview style podcast. I already have some BIG GUESTS lined up, and my goal is to get into the top 1% of all business podcasts by the end of the year.

I can do it. But so can you.

I hope you start and I hope you continue on.

Love you guys.

Talk to you next week.

Tim
