Hey there, it's Tim.
This week, we're talking about going to a higher level. It's time we start challenging ourselves to discover and implement modern marketing tactics and new technology that will drive more sales and earn more clients.
It's time to go pro!
1. Copyblogger Pro is Available Now
What does it take to succeed in today's digital economy?
Everywhere I look online, I see ads from "marketing gurus" telling me that they have the secret to building a million dollar business. But we all know that the answers are never that simple and success requires more than "get rich quick" schemes that don't actually work anyway.
So what's the answer? What does it truly take to build a remarkable business in 2020?
- You must embrace your creative voice -- your uniqueness, which is the thing that you offer that no one else can.
- You must also gain leverage -- the strategic deployment of audience, automation, and soon artificial intelligence to accomplish what used to take 1,000 people.
Our new membership program will teach you how to combine your uniqueness with technology. In other words, Copyblogger Pro will help you become both a killer and a poet.
"If you're both a killer and a poet, you get rich." - David Ogilvy
You'll have access to people at the cutting edge of digital marketing, and we'll show you how to combine your content creativity with advanced technology. This winning combination has the power to bring your work and your message to massive amounts of potential customers and clients.
Copyblogger has always been dedicated to helping writers and other content creators, and we still believe that delivering the right messages to the right people is the path to success. But great content alone is no longer enough. You also need to put technology to work for you to succeed with SEO, email automation, online advertising, integrated sales funnels, and more.
2. 3 Ways to Get What You Want by Doing Your Homework
How do you get someone's attention?
Have you ever sent a cold email to a prospect in hopes that you could land them as a client, or even "grab a cup of coffee?" How did it go for you? There's a chance you may have gotten a few replies, but the reality is spammy, inauthentic email outreach is a losing strategy.
Why? Because there's no context or subtlety in the introduction.
That doesn't mean you should stop sending emails and that you should stop reaching out to people. We all need things from other people, and that's okay. But you can greatly increase your chances of getting noticed simply by doing a little bit of homework.
- Understand what they do
- Know their audience
- Play along
These three tips can go along way in your outreach. If you do a little bit of homework, you will find that your emails get replied to more often and that people are more receptive to hearing your message.
3. Building an Audience from Scratch w/ Brandan Zhang
I get a lot of emails from people asking, "how do I get started?"
We all know we need to build an audience, but the idea of starting with nothing can be daunting. You may ask yourself, "who really cares about what I have to say?" I know I've felt that way before.
In this interview, Brandon gives clear insight on how he went from zero to 5,000 Twitter followers, built a thriving podcast with high profile guests, and is growing a popular newsletter. He's made all this progress in the short span of 9 months.
Brandon created a plan, built a process, and executed.
We also talk about...
- Mental models and mindfulness
- How to develop habits of productivity
- How Brandon plans to monetize his business
4. Now's the Time to Transform from Fan to Fanatic to Fantastic Content Creator
Building an audience involves a lot of trial and error.
But those who wish to have their own audiences make the effort because having a group of individuals who look forward to getting your content is an extremely valuable asset.
Your audience members are the most likely to become customers or clients because they have gotten to know, like, and trust you through the value you already offer them ... before any money has been exchanged.
Although every content marketing journey is different, your personal story likely shares a common thread with your peers' paths.
I loved this tweet from Alex Lieberman. It was a great reminder that not all work and productivity has to be about "building." The ability to think clearly and have a clear mind is a huge asset. Knowing the right choice to make is just as important taking the right actions.
Thanks Alex.
Closing Thoughts - "Understanding Leverage"
Many entrepreneurs and business owners pride themselves on their work ethic, and for good reason. Hard work is a virtue, and conscientiousness is one of the personality traits most correlated to success in business.
However, there's another concept that can be more valuable than hard work. This concept is leverage.
To apply leverage to a task or business makes it possible for your work to produce 10X, 1,000X or even 10,000,000X results.
200 years ago, if you wanted to spread your message, your only choice was to speak individually to people. Maybe you could have given a presentation to a group of people while standing on a soapbox, but the value of your labor was still limited.
Fast forward to 2020, and the tools we have at our disposal make it so one tweet can reach millions of people over the course of the day. And social media is just the tip of the iceberg.
The value that software can bring to your business is staggering. Now, one person (you) can build email automation sequences that can send thousands of emails while you sleep. You can leverage code to rank websites in search engine so that page views and attention come directly to you.
Writers may have a hard time understanding leverage, because we care so much about being personal with our audience. You want to touch people with your message and reach people on an individual level.
Well guess what? You have the power to do both. You can be personal and apply leverage at the same time. This is how to achieve massive success.
In September, we are going to focus on teaching you these concepts.
How can you accumulate leverage? How can you execute on applying software to your marketing strategies and what are the right programs to use?
This is going to be an exciting month.
Talk to you next week.
